Rahul had a propensity for Kabaddi since childhood.
His elder brother played kabaddi for his village team as a raider. That is how Rahul got introduced and attracted towards this sport.
At a mere age of 13 years he started playing Kabaddi. Initially his talent was not recognised and his parents did not support him for the same. They would scold him to focus on his studies and he would also get beaten.
A major challenge he faced was of being overweight. It was so severe that doctors declared he would short live with this unusual weight.
His parents provided special attention on his diet which resulted him to be the fittest athlete today apart from being quick and agile.
He secretly attended the trial held by Sports Authority of India (SAI) in the year 2007.
He got selected and was offered a training camp in Gandhinagar. Moving ahead to attend the training inspite of family opposition was a bitter decision for him at an young age.
An unusual situation was when he got an offer to play for Indian Army. He had to reject it because it was too early for him to take that decision.
Rahul played kabaddi and practiced to become successful.
Later he was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to play for Air India, which was readily accepted by him.
Rahul Chaudhari kabaddi craze gave him a place in Indian kabaddi team. He played many matches from team India which includes South Asian games, Asian beach games, etc.
Pro Kabbadi
His coach Uday Kumar had noticed his talent and hence recruited Rahul for Pro Kabbadi. Uday Kumar was the coach of the Team Telugu Titans.
In season 1 Telugu Titans Rahul Chaudhari was successful in getting 161 points from 14 games. He was ranked second in raiding chart post Anup Kumar, U Mumba’s captain.
Initially, Rahul started playing as a defender but later on became a raider. His graph reached the peak in season 4 of PKL where he scored 400 raid points. He holds the record of scoring highest raid points till date in history of PKL.
His Jersey no was 9 in Telugu Titans.
Indian National Team
He became the Indian senior team captain in 2014 at the Asian beach games in Phuket, Thailand. Team won gold medal.
In the year 2015 he won Gold for his state Uttar Pradesh at National Kabaddi Championship.
Later in 2016 again there was gold at Kabaddi World Cup.
